Understanding the treatment
Veneers are thin layers of ceramic covering the front of teeth. They can transform a smile while removing very little dental tissue, changing the shape, contours, size or colour of teeth to improve their appearance.
These restorations are usually fitted to the front surface of teeth, known as the vestibular surface. They can sometimes be applied to the back when a particular treatment requires it.
Unlike crowns, veneers do not cover the entire tooth. Preparation is limited but meticulous. Veneers are considered permanent: even minimal shaping means the original tooth cannot be restored to its previous state afterwards. Precise bonding techniques help keep veneers securely in place over time.

How treatment works
Two appointments are essential: one to prepare the teeth and take impressions, and another to fit the veneers. Temporary veneers provide comfort between visits. Additional appointments may be needed for adjustments or further measurements.
A mock-up can be helpful, although it is not always required. Resin veneers are temporarily created directly in the patient’s mouth to preview the proposed tooth shape. This temporary model allows the patient and dentist to assess and discuss the treatment plan before proceeding.
Veneers are not suitable in every situation. For example, they are generally not recommended for people with habits such as bruxism (teeth grinding) or nail biting.
