While waiting for your appointment

What to do.

Broken or knocked-out tooth

Find the tooth or fragment and keep it in milk or saliva. Contact a dentist as soon as possible. Same-day assessment is preferable, especially for a permanent tooth.

Pain

Your usual painkiller may help while you wait. Avoid putting aspirin directly on the gum and avoid very hot or very cold foods.

Swelling

Apply something cold to the cheek for periods of ten minutes. Spreading swelling or fever needs prompt assessment.

Loose orthodontic bracket or wire

If a wire is poking, cover it with orthodontic wax or a small piece of cotton. Keep any loose bracket and bring it to your appointment.

The practice reception

During opening hours, call us.

Reception will guide you and find the earliest suitable appointment with an available dentist.
